Last year at our Taylor Swift Dance Party Fundraiser, something incredible happened. What began as a joyful, community-centered fundraiser grew into something far greater than we could have imagined. Because of your support, Compassion Takes Action was able to launch and fully fund a school for girls in Afghanistan for an entire year. Students were taught, teachers were supported, and girls who otherwise would not have had access to education were given the chance to learn, grow, and dream.
That impact is still being felt today.
Now, we have the opportunity to continue that momentum.
Girls Rising returns with Game On for Education on May 8th at 6:00 PM, bringing a high-energy, immersive experience inspired by the world of video games. From the excitement of Super Smash Bros-style competition to the joy of a Just Dance–inspired party atmosphere, the night is designed to be vibrant, inclusive, and full of connection. Whether you come ready to compete, dance, cheer others on, or simply be part of something meaningful, there will truly be something for everyone.
But at the heart of it all is the mission.
This event is about continuing a path forward—keeping this school open, supporting these teachers, and ensuring these girls can continue their education for another year. What we started together can only continue together.

GIRLS RISING FOR EDUCATION
On July 1, 2025, Compassion Takes Action proudly launched Toloo-e Dokhtaran, the Girls Rising School. In Dari, Toloo means “rising” or “dawn,” and Dokhtaran means “girls.” Together, the name symbolizes a new beginning—a rising generation of daughters stepping into light, learning, and leadership.
In addition to providing education for 25 courageous young students, the school created jobs for female teachers and staff, bringing income, dignity, and opportunity to their families. In a region where access to education and employment for women has long been restricted, this school is more than a classroom. It is a catalyst for change throughout the community.
This past week, we met with the teachers and students via Google Meet. Each one expressed deep gratitude and unwavering hope. Their dreams—to become doctors, translators, teachers, and even the future president of their country—testify to the power of education and the strength of the human spirit. One girl shared, “Being able to return to school brought color back into my life.” Another said, “For all girls, I will do my best to learn and make the most of this opportunity.”
Their bravery reminds us that even in the hardest places, light still breaks through. And when it does, it illuminates the path for many others to follow.
To everyone who danced, donated, cheered, and helped make the Dance Party fundraiser a reality—thank you. Because of your energy, love, and generosity, we were able to reach these 25 girls. Now we know their names, their stories, their dreams. You helped build something real, something lasting. You did that. And the light that started on that dance floor now shines in a classroom on the other side of the world.
